The Procedural Issues Committee reviewed the results of the verification of signatures submitted by the initiative group, concerning the exercise of the right to submit a legislative proposal supported by not fewer than 25,000 voters, regarding amendments to the Law“On the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons”.
According to the reporter, Chair of the Committee David Matikashvili, the initiative group (composed of Giorgi Kardava, Zurab Makharadze, Shota Martinenko, Irakli Martinenko, and Sergo Khurtsidze) submitted 54,246 signatures, of which 23,333 were declared invalid.
He further stated that since the number of valid signatures amounted to 30,919, exceeding the required threshold of 25,000, the Committee will forward a positive conclusion, together with the submitted draft law, to the Bureau.
The Committee also considered the issue of registering Georgian citizen Giorgi Andriadze as a lobbyist.
As noted by D. Matikashvili, following examination of the matter, it was determined that the documents submitted by Giorgi Andriadze did not meet the requirements established by law.
Accordingly, the applicant was denied registration as a lobbyist.
