The Procedural Issues Committee Confirmed the Authenticity of MPs’ Signatures on a Constitutional Complaint

The Procedural Issues Committee supported the draft conclusion confirming the authenticity of MP’s signatures on a constitutional complaint.

According to the reporter, First Deputy Chair of the Committee Akaki Aladashvili, following a review conducted in accordance with Article 204, paragraph 3 and Article 222 of the Rules of Procedure, the Committee established the authenticity of the signatures of 89 Members of the Parliament on the constitutional complaint. This enables the exercise of the right to apply to the Constitutional Court.

As stated by Akaki Aladashvili, the constitutional complaint concerns the exercise of the right to apply to the Constitutional Court regarding the recognition of the activities of certain political parties as unconstitutional and their prohibition.

The Committee also reviewed the results of examining information received from parliamentary committees regarding the mandatory attendance of officials and hearings of officials at committee sittings.

According to Akaki Aladashvili, during the reporting period—from January 1 through March 31, 2026—no committee made a decision to summon an official to attend a committee sitting.

Additionally, no faction requested the mandatory attendance of an official at a committee sitting.

He further noted that, during the reviewed period, none of the officials referred to in Article 147, paragraph 1 of the Rules of Procedure, requested to be heard at a committee sitting.

The Committee took note of this information.

As noted by Akaki Aladashvili, in accordance with Article 147, paragraph 10 of the Rules of Procedure, the results of the review will be submitted to the Bureau.

The Committee will also ensure that this information is published on the Parliament’s official website.
