The Agriculture Committee Discussed the “2025 Report on Employment Policy Planning and Implementation”

The Agriculture Committee discussed the “2025 Report on Employment Policy Planning and Implementation” submitted by the Government of Georgia.

The presenter, Deputy IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Minister Giorgi Tsagareishvili, introduced the main priorities of the State Employment Support Agency’s activities in 2025.

According to him, the Agency operated in the following areas: geographical expansion of services and programs, maximum support for vulnerable groups, adapting programs to real labor market demands, and strengthening the institution’s capacities.

As Giorgi Tsagareishvili noted, the State Employment Support Agency is represented in all regions and in 16 municipalities.

“Increasing public awareness is one of the Agency’s main challenges, especially in the regions. Therefore, rapid steps must be taken in this direction. People should know that they have support and assistance in finding the shortest path to employment”, - the Deputy Minister stated.

According to him, one of the Agency’s priority areas is short-term vocational training and retraining programs implemented jointly with the Education, Science and Youth Ministry and based on the network of public and private colleges. As he noted, more than 3,000 people have been retrained through these programs, which last from one to three months.

Giorgi Tsagareishvili stated that, due to increased public awareness and geographical expansion of the Agency last year, the number of citizen applications increased by 59%.

As he noted, the Agency does not face funding problems, and the existing budget is being spent efficiently.

The reporter answered questions from committee members.

Chair of the Agriculture Committee Gela Samkharauli thanked Deputy Minister for presenting the report.

“The existing dynamics show that both the economy and the number of employed people are increasing annually in our country. One of the components of these activities is the Employment Agency”, - Gela Samkharauli stated.

The Committee took note of the “2025 Report on Employment Policy Planning and Implementation”.
